This article is based on the video tutorial published in our YouTube channel – Connecting to Google Analytics Account in Power BI. The objective is to be able to connect and transform your data. Start exploring and visualizing Google Analytics data in Power BI with these easy steps.
1. First, you will need to sign up to Power BI. You may sign up here and download Power BI Desktop as well.
2. Then, you start the application ‘Power BI Desktop’ and wait until the initializing complete. Stay put!
3. Upon starting, the App will prompt you this page – Where you can check out the latest updates & forums and also tutorials videos on how to get started! You can close this page for this tutorial.
4. Then, you go to “Get Data” on the top left corner and click on “More”.
5. Next step, you can either scroll down and look for Google Analytics or type in the box “Google Analytics” and click “Connect”.
6. Next, it will prompt you with this message and click “Continue” to proceed.
7. Then, Power BI will prompt you for authorization and you will required to sign in to your Google account. After which you will need click “Accept” for Power BI to access your data.
8. Next, you select which account you wish to connect with. Expand the option and select “All Web Site Data”.
9. Now you can checked on the boxes of your desired metrics/dimensions for your analysis, then click “Load” to proceed.
10. After you “Load”, Power BI will connect to the data that you’ve chosen earlier and it will take a few seconds to complete.
11. Voila! Now you have the metrics/dimensions that you’ve chosen in Power BI and you can start creating your reports!
